Easy Caramel Sauce Recipe

Caramel sauce is one of my favorite homemade food gifts to give. It’s easy to make and who doesn’t love caramel? You can use it as fruit dip, over ice cream, heated up or room temperature, whatever. I decided to give some homemade caramel sauce as Valentines Day gifts this year to my mom, aunt, neighbor, etc.
First, you’ll need some jars. I usually use these mason jars which you can get as 4 or 8 oz and have free Amazon Prime shipping. I got my little gift tags and the heart stickers from the Target dollar section. The little heart stickers were the perfect size for the top of my jars.
Next, you just have to make the caramel sauce. Here’s my go-to recipe:
Easy Caramel Sauce
4 cups of brown sugar (packed)
4 cups of butter
1 cup of milk
4 tsp vanilla extract
Bring the brown sugar, butter, and milk to a boil. Stir continuously. Cook until thickened (about 1-2 minutes). Take off the heat and add the vanilla extract (optional). Pour into containers and let cool.
The caramel sauce will be really runny until it sets up. Once it cools down, it will have a great thick consistency.
After your containers are filled, you can decorate them. Waiting until after their filled allows you to make sure the caramel is all cleaned off and any drips are cleaned. Otherwise it can get kind of messy! I just added tags and a little sticker to mine. Enjoy!
